Here is a ballad I wrote about Betsy Ross. In the month of June, Three American heros were just a short step away, They had an important question on there minds, To ask when they arrived that day. Washington knocked on the door, Of another Christ Church attendee, Out came Betsy Ross, who was known for her needle, To see the Committee of Three. The question was asked, If she would make the country's flag, She led them to her parlor, Where she got out a black pencil from her bag. He began to re-create the design, To show her exactly what he needed, Once he was done he left her to alone, In hopes that his instructions to her would be heeded. She began to work steadily, Stitch by stitch, Her master piece was created, Inch by inch. At church each week, She would tell him what she had done, And six years later, Her master piece was admired by everyone. Each time we put our hand on our heart, We look up at old glory, We think of Betsy, And remember her story.
